The Molecular and Cellular Biology Branch (MCBB) of IBS-CGI investigates various molecular mechanisms affecting genomic integrity; DNA replication, repair, recombination and damage response. We use molecular, cellular biology, and biochemistry methods to understand detail molecular mechanisms affecting genomic integrity.

We are an international and interdisciplinary research team focused on the studies of molecular pathways underlying DNA repair and of DNA damage response and its connection
to tumorigenesis and cancer therapy.

We are focusing on understanding Basic Mechanisms of Mutagenesis (MMS Section) and on Cellular Fail-safe Mechanisms (CFMS Section) that ensure faithful genome maintenance and the elimination of compromised cells by programmed cell death.
